The Wonder of a Child

Ema might not remember it, but Gage and I will likely never forget taking our daughter to New York City for the first time. As an adult, NYC is a myriad of colors, people, lights, stores, taxis and basic sensory overload. Now imagine you are a 2 year old taking this all in at once! From the moment we boarded the train in White Plains until we returned to the hotel later that night, Ema was constantly looking around and saying, "Mommy, look...". And this was elevated further in the American Girl Place, a store like no other and a marketing nightmare for parents of daughters. Ema was beside herself seeing all the different dolls. Each new display elicited excitement for Ema as she eagerly anticipated the next one. And, she had the final reward of leaving with a doll she named Nicole. We might be in the vicious cycle of American Girl Dolls now! But they are cute and Ema is in love with Nicole now.
FAO Schwarz proved to be a similar experience for her as well. The stuffed animals were amazing for her and she immediately threw herself down next to one of the bears that easily exceeded her size.
Now we can't wait to take Ema back to the city! I know the next visit will bring even more discoveries for her and elicit further excitement. It's a city of endless possibilities and we hope to further our experiences in the near future.
It was truly a NYC trip catered to a 2 year old, but one her parents enjoyed nonetheless.
Enjoy the photos!
