Learning to Stand!

Ema finally figured out how to pull herself up to a standing position! Prior to this evening, she would stand if we placed her against something. On two prior isolated cases she pulled herself completely up. But on Monday night, she was pulling herself up over and over again like she had been doing it for weeks. I guess the next step is walking...although after standing she has to take a few steps toward the couch or coffee table to balance even better. So she is practicing that already!

Ema showed off some skills already by waving to us and clapping while she was standing (of course she was balanced with her elbows against the couch). Gage has been working on teaching her to walk by holding her hands and guiding her along. It's still rough, but she gets better and better. Maybe she'll be walking by her first birthday, which is Oct. 10.

Ema is so, so happy. She laughs and smiles all the time. She is definitey developing a sense of humor. While we were working outside, she laughed as I strgguled to jump up to grab a tree branch. On another occasion she cracked up while I tried to close the door to our walk in space. Gage continues to make her laugh. Just touching his hair cracks her up. And Ema remains interested in Joey, our cat. She chases her around, but Joey is smart enough to let Ema get close and then take off.
