Stephanie's Wedding

All week we prepared Ema for Saturday, Stephanie's Special Day. My friends Stephanie and Wes were getting married and that was the easiest way to explain it. Ema has seen photos from our wedding and knew Stephanie would be wearing a pretty dress, "like Mommy." Of course, the closer we got to the day, the more Ema insisted it was her special day too. And, she wanted to wear her pink tutu. The wedding was held in Old Towne Alexandria, about two hours north of Richmond. Ema actually did wear the tutu in the car. We changed her once we got to the church.

The ceremony was beautiful and held in a very historic church -- built in 1795 and George Washington is reported to have contributed to the church! The bride, of course, was gorgeous!

The ceremony was held at the Officer's Club at Fort Belvoir. The place is LARGE! First, we went to the wrong entrance. Then, we had to show ID to get into the base. Once we were on the base, I felt like we wandered forever! We finally found the Officer's Club, after wandering by the homes of Brigadeer Generals [their names are on their front stoops]. The homes were beautiful, colonial, brick homes. The Officer's Club is gorgeous and located right on the Potomac.

Ema enjoyed the reception -- and really enjoyed drinking her Shirley Temples with Jackie. And, she was happy to finally see "Miss Stephanie." Ema really loves Stephanie. She kept taking flowers (pulled out of the centerpieces) to Stephanie. Ema also found a friend her age and they danced together and just ran around screaming. It's funny how kids know who is their age!
