We visited Pony Pasture on the James River Saturday afternoon. While we were there, we realized that we had not visited in two years. The last time we did, I was still pregnant and we did "belly shots" there. Above is a photo from two years ago and then one from Saturday. Wow, have things changed!
It's now Ema's birthday month and she is quickly approaching 2! It's funny to look back and think what we were doing this time two years ago. We were still living with Meeshell and her family at that time. We had the house, but had not moved in yet. I was already dilated about 2 cm and getting ready for another visit to the doctor. I was moving slowly and waddling around, but still going to work and getting things done.
Now, we have a beautiful daughter who is almost 2. She definitely has personality. Ema is stubborn and knows what she wants. If she doesn't get it, she might just throw herself on the floor. Yes, Ema has a flair for the dramatic. She talks a lot. She'll tell you a variety of animal noises from rooster to pig to horse to frog to zebra (now that's an interesting one. Not sure where she got that...who really knows what a zebra sounds like?).
Ema is definitely into names and telling people names. She continues to call her daddy by his full name and knows my first name now. But usually when asked, she'll just call me Mommy. She definitely knows who goes together. If we start talking about Milla or Kai, she brings up Dennis and Kylie too. Of course, since Kylie is pregnant, she also talks about a baby when she talks about Kylie.
Ema is always asking, "What's that?" Yikes! She's an inquisitive one. Her language skills are really tremendous. Ema is always surprising us with the words she knows -- just this morning she told Gage that one of her teachers was "awesome".
Ema loves talking on the phone. She talks to her cousin Skylar often and even to Lizzie and sometimes Lucy the cat. She also enjoys talking to Grandma. She even talked to Aunt Kacee last night. Ema is getting very good at telling people, "I love you". Saturday afternoon, she followed her cousin Xon round just wanting to give him hugs.
Already, Ema's class is working on the alphabet. This week is the letter 'C'. She loves her friends at school -- especially her friend Carter! Ema loves to look at photos and tell you who is in the photos. When she sees a photo of her house, she knows that is her house and will tell you, "Ema's house." She is learning opposites, especially in the game she and Gage play often. He'll say, "Hot" and she'll respond, "No Hot" and they go back and forth, switching roles too.
So much to tell about Ema. She is an amazing baby and we love her more and more each day! We have a few new photos to share with you.
Enjoy!
